The articles that I chose to present to the class this week are about George Montopoli a personal family friend and prominent mountain climber and ranger in the Grand Tetons National Park. The two articles that I attached are about an ongoing project he and his daughter have embarked upon in which they attempt to track and record mountain climbing and other disasters in the Grand Tetons in an effort to educate the public and better allocate resources to the most dangerous areas. In addition to this it is also a brief summary of his time climbing in the Grand Tetons. The other Article is also brief and describes a rescue mission in the Grand Tetons that George participated in and was awarded the medal of valor for after his personal risk to himself. In addition to this it should be noted that George has been climbing for many years and has participated in many rescue attempts and expeditions up the mountain. He is one of the main rangers responsible for setting lines and for making sure that certain aspects of climbing and routes are as safe as possible for the general public. He is a very interesting man that has many different avenues of research that he is involved with thus sometimes providing an interesting take on different mountaineering topics.
